Finding Jackson Town Square

Jackson Town Square is at 10 E Broadway Ave in the centre of downtown Jackson. Its formal name is George Washington Memorial Park, and it was dedicated as a park in 1934.

The square makes a natural starting point for a downtown walk: begin among the arches, then follow the surrounding streets toward shops and other town stops. If you’re planning several stops on foot or by car, this guide to getting around Jackson covers ways to move around town.

The antler arches and park features

The antler arches and park features

The four arches at the corners of Town Square are made from elk antlers collected from the nearby National Elk Refuge. The first arch was built in 1953, and each arch is periodically taken apart and recreated.

Inside the one-acre park, benches are distributed throughout the grounds. The centre holds a stone memorial honoring local veterans, and features include an open lawn, a veteran’s statue, a flagpole, a drinking fountain, bike racks, utility outlets and a stage stop building.

Town Square takes on seasonal uses, too: winter brings an ice-skating rink and holiday lights on the arches. In summer, people often ride a stagecoach around the park, while the Jackson Hole Historical Society & Museum guides walking tours of Jackson.
